On Sunday, March 8, join the Ramblers on a hike on Saint-Bernard Island, located in Châteauguay, where you will see exceptional treasures. Saint-Bernard Island is a rich natural and historical resource. The 8 km of trails are laid out such that there are several spots which offer a view of Lac Saint-Louis. This is an opportunity to discover nature and history.

It is an easy hike.

Carpool: Rendezvous at 8:00 a.m. in the municipal parking lot on Raoul Blais (between the KIA dealership and the Vaudreuil Dorion Medical Clinic at 600 Boul. Harwood) 

Departure will be at 8:10 a.m.

Destination is at 480 Boulevard d'Youville, Châteauguay, QC J6J 5T9

Directions: Take Highway 30 (toll fee $ 3.10) then cross the river on the Serge-Marcil bridge. Go straight towards Beauharnois until exit #35.  Take the overpass then turn left on chemin de la Haute-Rivière and continue for 1 km. Turn left at Road 132 and stay on that road until boulevard de Léry. Turn right on boulevard de Léry and continue to Notre-Dame street (on your left). Take Notre-Dame towards the river then turn right on rue Edmour. Continue toward the bridge to access St-Bernard Island.  Park your car then go the Welcome Centre.

Meet at 9:00 a.m. for the hike briefing. 



9:10 a.m. hike departure. The trails are about 8 km long and we will stop at each of the lookouts. As the weather forecast and trail conditions are somewhat unpredictable make sure to wear waterproof boots and bring crampons and/or snowshoes.

At the end of the hike, we will meet in the pavillon. You may choose to leave at this point or if you wish, you are invited  to join us for a light lunch ($) with fellow hikers at the Café de l'île. The menu is varied and you are responsible for paying for your meal.

Members should have their card at each hike. The membership fees have to be paid by check or by Interac.

N.B. Guests are welcome and members are encouraged to invite interested individuals who can participate in our sanctioned activities once for free. Guests must register at After one free event, returning guests will be invited to join the Ramblers Association and pay the annual membership fee. Those people who, after using their free pass want to participate but not join will be obliged to pay $10 per outing.

All persons who participate in a Ramblers Club activity acknowledge having read, understood and accepted theClub’s policies and waiver, as posted on the website at, and agree to abide by them.

NOTICE: Ramblers Association hikes are held rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions, such as an ice storm or thunderstorms. If a hike is cancelled for these reasons an email will be sent to all members and other people on our mailing list one (1) hour before the event is due to start. This cancellation notice will also appear on our website.
