Turn left on Cherrier, right on de l’Église, until you reach chemin Bord-du-Lac. Turn right, and continue until you come to the Park entrance at 2115. Twenty people assembled at 9am in the parking lot of the Ile Bizard Nature Park. The temperature was a bit fresh early in the morning but the sun was shining in an intense blue sky. At the start, we were « hit with » a closed trail sign, which we decided to ignore because it was felt the closure was only because of a number of fallen branches. We crossed over a footbridge and were treated to the sight of several pairs of Canada geese who were parading on the frozen lake. Many members took photos at this place. The trails were still snow covered, and the snow compacted which meant we needed our crampons for the entire hike. Several parts of the trails were free of snow, but muddy. The footbridge and other wooden bridges were free of snow and although damp, they were not slippery. We hiked 9 km in 2 hrs and 20 minutes including several stops at observation points (and for photos). During a break by the Laval Rapids, Anne offered chocolate eggs to participants who came out for this Easter hike. No incidents to report. There are outhouses available.
