Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles

Leaders: Hélène & Anne

Level: Intermediate (Level of difficulty for hikes)

Distance approx: 10 km

Obligatory Equipment : snowshoes; & crampons (in case we need them); good warm hiking boots, sufficient water for the day, a picnic lunch.

Optional: snack, camera, GPS (this is our first visit)

On Sunday, March 27, Hélène and Anne will lead a hike in the  Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Park , a park not yet visited.

We will snowshoe if there is still enough snow at the time. The Rivière-des-Mille-Îles’ Park encompasses an array of natural areas, bodies of water, islands, marshland and coastline. Its décor is composed of authentic bayous, a calm and safe river.

We will walk or snowshoe in a scenery composed of Darling Island’s forests in Laval, Tylee marshlands in Rosemère and the vast frozen spaces of the Rivière des Mille Îles. Three circuits for a combined total of 13 kilometers are available for walking, snowshoeing and sledding.

A heated welcome area and multiple snack-bar-equipped rest areas allow you and your family to play outside for as long as you wish – for free!

Opening hours for multipurpose tracks are between 10:00AM and 5:00PM.

We will access the tracks from:

  • 345, Sainte-Rose Boulevard, in Laval

Bring your snowshoes and, depending on the weather conditions, footwear could even be hiking boots and crampons. Trekking poles would be advantageous.  Dress for the weather, in layers, and bring water.
