The hike’s starting point is 169 km (1 h 47min) from the carpool meeting point
If you opt to carpool (as driver or passenger); please indicate this by registering and clicking on this link  LIST.

We will start the hike from the P-13 parking lot. (Meech Lake).

To get there, take the Old Cheslea exit on Highway 5 in the direction of  North-Maniwaki, turn left on Old Chelsea Road and continue until you find the P-13 parking lot by Meech Lake.

Hike Details: We will start this hike at 10 a.m. at the point identified on the Google maps.  Arrive 15 minutes earlier (9:45 a.m.) to receive the hike details and general instructions.

From the parking lot, we will set off on the Wolf trail (trail 62) which should appeal to the mountain goats in the group. It is a trail of 8.5 km with significant elevation changes and three lookouts with magnificent views.
Although it is classified as level ''difficult'', it is accessible for the majority of experienced hikers.

Diane and Anouk have proposed that the group meet at Anouk's place for lunch as it's near the border of the park and will allow everyone to be warm and comfortable during lunch.

After lunch, we will head to Pink Lake via a 3.5 km trail which passes by Anouk's house and leads directly to the lake (trails 5, 15 and 35). Pink Lake is a beautiful meromictic lake. The turquoise colour of the lake, the cliffs that surround it and the dense and diverse forests around make it an enchanting site.

A 1.5 km trail encircles the lake and has interpretive panels that explain the peculiarities of this meromictic lake. A meomictic lake has layers of water that do not intermix and there are only sixty of these lakes in North America.

This portion of the hike should take about 60 minutes and the level of difficulty is moderate. There is a dry toilet near the path. Some sections of this path are universally accessible.

We will return to Anouk's home by the same trail and, for those who wish and if the weather permits, we will drive to the Champlain Lookout (appro.10 minutes by car). this offers the most famous views of the park because you can see the entire northern valley of the Ottawa River.

Those who opt not to go to the Champlain Lookout, can simply head home via Highway 5 southbound from Anouk’s home.
