REPORT :

Although seven people registered for the hike; unfortunately, one of them went to the wrong shopping center and missed the group rendezvous, so there were only six participants.

When we arrived at the resort, we learned that the fee for hiking had gone up from $4 to $5. Because the fee indicated on their web site had stated it was $4, that was what we were charged. Thus, for the 5 RARA members, it cost the club $20.

The weather was great. At km 1.8, one participant decided that she wouldn’t be able to complete the full hike, so she returned to the starting point with her friend. They arrived at the base at 1:20 PM according to the park log.

At km 3.2, two other hikers ran out of steam, so we decided to break for lunch on the spot. It was 12:30. Only 100 m beyond that point there is a beautiful view lookout and it would have been an excellent place to have lunch.  After lunch we continued our ascent and were surprised to find 40 CEGEP students resting at the summit (km 3.6).

The afternoon hike was much easier than the morning one. Once again this year, there was a very icy part of the trail, just before reaching the lake. Fortunately, Michèle and I had our crampons in our back pack. The hike ended at 3:20 PM.

Note: Bringing crampons should be part of this hike notice.
