The hike

Leaders: Claude, Michèle, Carole and Anne.

Distance: 4 to 9 km

Ascent: 50 m

Level: Beginner to intermediate (Levels of difficulty for hikes)

Rendezvous: at 9:30 am at Érablière Saint-Henri, 960 chemin St-Henri, Ste-Marthe.  From HW 40, take the 201 south to chemin St-Henri, from HW 20 take the 201 north to chemin St-Henri. Drive approx. 7km on St-Henri to reach the Sugar Shack.

For the hike, we will divide into two groups.

One group will walk at a faster pace and for a longer distance. The second group may not walk the full distance and will go at a more leisurely pace. Both groups start off from the sugar shack, heading along their private trail to the Lac Des Castors.

From there we will walk northward to the yellow Escapade trail, then eastwards towards the "Haut Lieu". At 10:40 the slower group will turn back and head toward the sugar shack. The faster group should have time to reach the "Haut Lieu" and return to the sugar shack where they will join the leisurely paced group in time for the 12 noon sitting.

After the hike, you are invited to join us for an enjoyable  traditional Quebec spring meal at the "Érablière St-Henri" Sugar Shack. Cost is $24 and includes taxes. Payment is cash or debit card. Alternately, you may join us for this fun event even if you choose not to hike on this day.

If you will be joining us for the meal, you must make your own reservation by calling (450) 459-9469. Mention that you are reserving a seat with LESRARA for the noon serving on March 29th. After you have made your reservation,   please add your name to our list by clicking on the word: MEAL so we know to expect you. Those  who have already registered need not take any other action.

Here is the MENU. The food will be served at 12:00 sharp. It is imperative that you be seated by that time.

This week after checking the trail, we dined at the Érablière. The food was excellent and plentiful and the atmosphere was fun. We think you will enjoy it too.

REPORT:

Bravo!

Everyone walked the full 9.4 km to the « Haut Lieu ». We were 19 participants total. The trail was in excellent condition and the weather perfect.

After the hike, 15 stayed for lunch at the “Cabane à sucre”.  Dinner was served at 12:30 instead of noon sharp. The food was good.

Claude

Here is the report for the second group:

12 of the 19 hikers were in the second group. We started the hike at 9:35 a.m.and arrived at the "Haut-Lieu" at 10:45. We headed back immediately and were back at the sugar shack at 11:40 a.m. Only two persons turned back just before the "Haut-Lieu".

Next time I suggest that we start off at 9:15 a.m. so that we can have a longer pause at the view point.
