Rendezvous at 8:20 a.m. in the parking lot at Hudson Shopping Centre. Departure at 8:30 a.m.

REPORT:

The Pointe-Claire walk was held as scheduled.  Rain had been in the forecast but there was no precipitation at all during the walk.

Only 8 members attended plus 3 members of my family.  The weather conditions from the previous few days plus the overcast conditions this morning most likely had an influence on the attendance.

The distance travelled was 11.4 kilometers and we ended back at the starting point at 11:45am for a total of approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes or just under an average of 5km per hour.

Afterwards, a group of 8 went to the Ye Old Orchard Pub in the Pointe-Claire village for lunch.  Near the end of the lunch Anis Turk left the table and walked towards the washroom.  A few minutes later we were informed by the waitress that he had fallen down and was being attended to by an off-duty EMT who called 911 to report the incident.

It appears Anis got dizzy when walking and lost his balance and may have been incoherent for a short period of time. By the time we were informed and went to investigate he was speaking coherently to the off duty EMT and then the Pointe-Claire Fire Department EMT's arrived and took over the incident.  Anis seemed to have regained his faculties and seemed to be fine but the Urgences Sante technicians decided that  it would be best for him to be taken to the hospital and since he was from the south shore they took him to Charles Lemoyne Hospital.

I contacted his daughter Mira  to give her the details and to offer assistance if she needed to come and get his car from the parking lot without his involvement.  I reported his car to the Pointe-Claire Security  so as not to ticket or tow the car as I explained the situation to them and advised that a family member would be coming to pick up the car at some point today or tomorrow.
