On July 26th, join us in exploring the Montagne-Grise (Greay Mountain). These trails were developed  and are maintained by Centre d'accès à la nature, that is a part of Centre sportif de l'UQAM.

We will walk the trail called "La Grise". On our return, we will also use the trail "Circuit sommet". Here is what it looks like on the map:

This is the hike profile:

We hike through  a lovely young forest. The trails are well kept. Bring a lunch and plenty of water. Bug repellent is not needed. I recommend good hiking boots and trekking poles as the trail is a bit rough. After this hike we can go across the street to view the waterfalls.

Anyone with physical limitations  should reconsider their participation on this hike.

REPORT:

It was a beautiful hike.

We were 9 participants, all of the intermediate plus level. I was the slowest, so it was easy for me to be hike sweeper. I walked 10.7 km in 4:33. The rest of the group walked 11.5 km in 5:08. While I was resting, they went to see the beautiful waterfall and had a refreshing foot bath.

The highlight of the hike was the off trail short cut to the second summit. It is only 300 m long, but it feels like 1 km because it is very steep. The long way to that summit is 2.6 km.

There were no problems traveling to the hike. It took about 1:45 to go and 2:00 to return.

Michèle suggest that only the intermediate plus hikers do the short cut. The intermediate hikers can avoid the second summit.
