Chemin de la Fourche (May 2011)

Leader: Martin Hofton

Length: 9,5 km

Level: Easy

On Sunday, June 8th, come and enjoy a beautiful spring walk in farm country between Rigaud and St Eugène.

Unlike in previous years, when we made an out-and-back hike along the same road, (called Chemin de la Fourche), this year we will make a circular route taking us via quiet country roads beside a babbling river, along a disused railway track and across grassy farmers fields (with the kind permission of the owner).

It is an easy hike of 9.5 kms on level ground.

To get to the starting point, take exit 12 from the Autoroute 40 and follow the route 342 ouest (Rue St-Jean-Baptiste) through Rigaud.  Pass the two sets of lights and then, immediately after the bridge, turn left at the dépanneur towards St Eugène. Go for  6.4 kms, then turn left on Chemin de la Fourche. Cross the small bridge, turn left and immediately park along the edge of the road on the same side as the river and opposite #391 Chemin de la Fourche. Don’t block access to the house nor the road.

We will meet at 9:00 a.m. and head out at 9:10 a.m.
