On Saturday, April 5, join the Ramblers on  a hike at the  refuge faunique Marguerite-d'Youville ( Marguerite-d’Youville Wildlife Refuge) and an optional one at the centre écologique Fernand-Seguin.( Fernand –Seguin Ecological Centre)

L’île Saint-Bernard offers a wealth of exceptional heritage and natural resources.  We will walk along the eight kilometers of trails of this wildlife sanctuary, stopping at the many lookouts  to enjoy the magnificent views of Lac Saint- Louis. Discover the nature and history of this inspiring site!

This hike is easy and open to all.

Carpool:

8:00 a.m.: Rendezvous in the municipal parking in Dorion,  rue Raoul-Blais, corner of Harwood blvd (between the KIA dealer and the Vaudreuil Dorion Medical Building, 600 Harwood Blvd) .

We will depart at 8:10 a.m..

Our destination is 480 Boulevard d'Youville, Châteauguay, QC J6J 5T9 http://g.co/maps/wjczk.

Directions: take Highway 30; René-Lévesque boulevard and continue to the end. After the railway tracks, turn right on Chemin Saint-Bernard and follow the signs for the Refuge faunique Marguerite-D’Youville.

An admission fee of $3.75 + tax is charged to access the trails. Tickets may be purchased at the Café de l'île.

At 9:00 a.m. we will start the hike.  Depending on weather conditions, be ready to wear  cleats or simply boots or maybe snowshoes! We will decide on site.

At the end of the hike, we will meet at the pavillon. Those hikers who depart for home can do so, the others will have lunch among friends at  Café de l'île which serves a variety of fresh salads, soups and various snacks.

After lunch, we will head to Centre écologique Fernand-Seguin .

Directions to the Centre écologique Fernand-Seguin.  Follow the small white signs pointing to René-Lévesque, turn left onto boulevard René-Lévesque. Turn right onto boulevard Brisebois (at this intersection you will see the « Centre hospitalier Anna-Laberge ») and continue all the way to the end.

Here we will hike 5 km  through a maple-hickory forest. The hiking trails are open at all times and admission is free.

We shouldl get back at around 2:30 p.m.

   

         Please take note that pets are not allowed on hikes.

Members should have their card at each hike. The membership fees may be paid by cheque or with Paypal.

N.B. Guests are welcome and members are encouraged to invite interested individuals who can participate in our sanctioned activities once for free. Those people who, after using their free pass want to participate but not join will be obliged to pay $10 per outing.

All persons who participate in a Ramblers Club activity acknowledge having read, understood and accepted the Club’s policies and waiver and the participant guidelines, as posted on the website at www.lesrara.ca, and agree to abide by them.

NOTICE: Ramblers Association hikes are held rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions, such as an ice storm or thunderstorms. If a hike is cancelled for these reasons an email will be sent to all members and other people on our mailing list one (1) hour before the event is due to start. This cancellation notice will also appear on our website.
