Distance: 5 km or 10 km

Ascent: 120 m

Level: For all

On Sunday March 16th, the Ramblers Association invites  you to step back in time and  be a ''coureur des bois'' also known as  “a runner of the woods” on a hike open to all. Please take note there is a climb of  120 m.

Without snow, this hike is easy, however, it  becomes more challenging  if weather conditions dictate  we have to wear snow shoes (you expend more energy on snowshoes).

Hikers will have two options.  You can choose to walk one way only from l'Escapade to Sucrerie de la Montagne for a distance of  5 km, or for more of a challenge you can do the round trip for a distance of 10 km.

The hikers who choose to walk   5 km will meet in the Sucrerie de la Montagne parking lot, 300 Rang St-Georges at 8:40 a.m. At 8:50 a.m., you will take  a  few vehicles  to join the rest of the group at l'Escapade, 15 rue Du Boisé des Franciscaines.

The hikers who plan to walk 10 km will meet  in the parking lot of chalet de l'Escapade, 15 rue du Boisé des Franciscaines at 9:00 a.m. The hike will start at 9:10 a.m. The duration of the hike will depend on participants pace and trail conditions.

After the hike you are invited to join us for lunch at L'Étoile de Rigaud .

During the hike you will be able to reach your leader, Claude Fortier at 514-655-6247.

Please take note that pets are not allowed on hikes.

Members should have their card at each hike. The membership fees may be paid by cheque or with Paypal.

REPORT:

There were 14 participants.

Six hikers did the 5.5 km one way hike to the “Sucrerie de la montagne”,  while the other eight completed  the round trip  - a distance of 11 km.

The last ones to return to l’Escapade arrived at 11:45. Only two hikers went to the restaurant for lunch.

One highlight of the hike was spotting an owl on our way back down the mountain. Unfortunately, my photo of the bird did not turn out well.

Thank you  to Michèle and Édith for taking good care of the slower hikers.

There were no incidents to report.
