REPORT:

Mont Gorille

A total of 8 members took part in this grueling excursion. Six of us stayed overnight at La Gare de Labelle where we were warmly welcomed.

All of us managed to complete the 18 km hike in 7 hours. Here is the chronology of the event:

9:00 rendezvous at La Gare (the beginning of the Expédition trail)

9:40 start of the hike (end of the Mont Gorille trail)

12:40 Lac Nantel where we took a 29 minute break for lunch

15:00 Petit Lac Caribou parking

16:40 end of hike at La Gare

Weather-wise, we had some sun in the morning, light intermittent rain in the afternoon and heavy downpours just after the hike. The temperature was near 10°C.

We all agreed that it was a difficult hike.

Recommendations:

Next time the rendezvous will be in the parking at Petit Lac Caribou at 9:00. From there we will take a minimum of vehicles to drive to the end of the Mont Gorille trail (14.5 km). The hike will comprise only the Mont Gorille and Cap 360 trails for a total of about 13 km. The allotted time to complete the hike will be 6 hours. It will remain a difficult hike.

Thank you Pierre for a job well done.
