On Sunday, the Ramblers Association will bring you on a  hike in the Pointe-des-Cascades Park. It’s a 2 ½  hours walk on an 8 km trail network,  where you will have the opportunity to walk along sections of the old Canal Soulanges, take a look to the area from the belvedere and see the water control dam installation. It’s also a nice place for bird watching with marshes and woodland.
 

Directions

From Dorion
 
  •  Turn right onto Chemin de Lotbinière/QC-338 O (panneaux pour Pointe-des-Cascades)
  •  Continue on QC-338 O (6,5 km)
  •  Turn left onto Avenue des Cascades  (130 m)
  •  Turn right onto Rue Centrale   (350 m)
  •  Turn left onto Chemin du Fleuve  (130 m)
  •  Continue on Chemin Du Fleuve up to the parking in front of civic # 62.
 
 

We will wait 10 minutes and start walking at 9:10 a.m.

Bring  walking poles and a good  pair of walking shoes. Dont forget  water and insect reppellent.

After the  walk, members and guests are welcome to bring some food and wine to share with other hikers. We hope that you will take this opportunity to chat and reminisce about the rambles we have enjoyed this past year.

REPORT:

26 members and 1 guest participated in this hike and all enjoyed it. The weather was perfect and the sun bright and warm. We walked  9 km in 2 hours 43 minutes. After the hike,  only 6 of us shared some wine and cheese; it seems that this part of the notice was not clear for everybody.

NOTICE: Ramblers Association hikes are held rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions, such as an ice storm or thunderstorms. If a hike is cancelled for these reasons an email will be sent to all members and other people on our mailing list one (1) hour before the event is due to start. This cancellation notice will also appear on our website.
