On February 3rd, you are invited to join the Ramblers for a  Snowshoe hike which will take about 3 h and  will cover 9.4 km on the Rigaud Mountain. There is a shorter option see below (3.7 km). The main hike is for intermediate hikers but we will accommodate all levels of hikers. Snowshoes and trekking poles are recommended. Dress for the weather, in layers; bring water or juice and have a good breakfast before you come out.

Rendezvous Sunday  at 9:00 am for a 9:10 am departure in the parking lot at the end of Rue de Lourdes in Rigaud (this is behind the arena). If the parking area below the sanctuary has not been cleared of snow then we will park in the arena parking area.

We call the circuit that we will follow "La 31". You can choose the length of the hike you want to do: 0 to 3,7 km, 4,5 km, 5,3 km and for the ambitious: 9,4 km. The climb  is 125 meters.

Take the exit off the 40 for Rigaud. Head west through the town, turn left at the first traffic light and follow the arena signs.

Members should have their card at each hike. The membership fees may be paid by cheque or with Paypal.

REPORT:

We were 11 participants. The temperature was -14°C.

Two hikers returned to their cars after reaching the summit of Mont Rigaud. It was their first snowshoe hike.

We adjusted the length of the hike to the remaining participants. So instead of doing the planned 9.4 km, we walked 6.9 km and everyone was happy.
